SOCIAL MEDIA VS REALITY This was easily one of my most insane things I’ve ever done. Dropping out of a heli at 8,000 feet with friends is freaking epic and it’s an experience that I’m very grateful to have. - That being said, social media will have you believe that this represents my entire life when in reality, it’s only a small proportion. For most people, social media is a merely highlight reel and it’s important to keep this in mind. It’s easy to fall into the trap of comparing 100% of your life to someone’s 5%, which from personal experience, can leave you feeling awful. - My goal has always been to be transparent, build a community, and inspire others. I feel like I have room to improve on the transparency part so this is my attempt at that haha. - Back in July, I found myself in one of the lowest spots mentally that I’ve been in this year. I had a complete breakdown and could barely bring myself to get out of bed and stay motivated. Judging by my Instagram feed, you would’ve never had a clue. Only those who follow my YT channel closely might’ve noticed that I went from posting consistently to only once every 1-2 months. - I’m not sharing this for pity, but to make a point. The past few years of pursuing my career have given me some of my highest highs and, conversely, some of my lowest lows. Far fewer people know about the latter. - If there’s one message I want to emphasize, it’s that so much goes on behind the scenes in our lives that’s never shown (the 95%). We’re all figuring ourselves out and we’re all more similar than social media might lead us to believe. For real though, your favorite influencers probably snore in their sleep and pick their nose when no one is looking 😂 - Being cognizant of this can lessen the negative effects of social media and help us live happier, more fulfilling lives. It’s a work in progress (at least for me haha), but even a small step in the right direction is always positive. - For those of you that have read this far, I hope you meet the love of your life today and that your Lucky Charms have more marshmallows than cereal.
