NEEDLE DROPPIN' While we are on the subject this week, here are some needle dropping videos to give you some more applications and context: 1 - @therealgrandwizzardtheodore from the excellent doc @battlesounds -- this was the first place I heard or saw the technique and was blown away. Theodore, also known as "the creator of the scratch", is using needle dropping to quickly cue up (in his headphones) the first bar of the breakbeat classic "Apache" over and over again. Commentary from @grandmixerdxt 2 - legendary video of @qtiptheabstract in studio with @kanyewest @cubansoze & @constv (who filmed this for his YouTube channel) needle dropping so dope that it sounds like a sample chopped on an MPC 🐓 3 - @crazearoni using his own Bully Breaks record from his 2000 @dmcdjchamps World Finals winning set. He's using the "skipless" section at the end and switching between a bunch of instruments. Nerves of steel doing that at the end of a 6 minute World Finals set defending his title. *I should mention that "skipless" vinyl are sections where a sound is repeated ~30 secs which increases the probability of the needle landing on the right groove. Switching between diff sections and dropping needle on beat 🔥🔥 4 - @officialbizmarkie (RIP we miss you Biz) shouts out some needle dropping DJs like DXT, @therealdjcashmoney @djflash4eva @djjazzyjeff @djbarrybee1 while showing how he rocks needle drops in the pocket 5 - @djkocoakashimokita the 7" master with a short needle drop video. I'm sure there is more footage of him doing needle drops, go watch more DJ Koco vids (just good life advice in general) 6 - @mophono, a leader in finding #skiponbeat records, did a whole promoted night around needle dropping. Here he is doing one live while @djqbert scratches on top of his patterns 7 - @chrana has dozens of dope 7" needle dropping vids on his page, here's a recent fave. Always finding creative records to do it with Any other videos out there or accounts of DJs that do this? I know @diamondditc djscratch got joints... @djdoodles71 @boogieblind ... @realdjswamp had a bunch of skipless records esp that one with the guitar tones...
