Noël took this and she’s from San Antonio which is where I got that neck tat on the day I turned 18. my mom was living there, things were difficult, it was hot, I was heartbroken, had no idea who I was but knew enough to get a proverb tatted on me for a lifetime that translates to perseverance is power/continuance is strength. Pretty sure it’s illegible now, I forget about it cause I can’t see it with my eyes but @noelwells sees everything, and even though this was only 2 months ago looking at it takes me back way longer and touches something deep. I think Sontag said photos are testaments to time’s relentless melt, true, but they are also testaments to enduring, to surviving. 💙
