For the last 2 years I have been working hard to build a project in the background among the chaos. Starting with very little information, and a big hunch, the whole first year I was entirely remote. Trying to build connections to a land, ocean, people, places, animals, without ever having been there, you can imagine how tricky that was. But I still managed to learn a lot and connect with awesome people along the way. When I finally managed to get here, I of course wanted to hit the ground running with it but couldn’t. I’ve spent this last year trying to get my feet on the ground, working out the logistics, acquiring the needed training, experience, knowledge, certifications, authorizations, resources, team members, yadda yadda. But after 2 years, it’s all finally starting to come together and I am on the brink of getting to spend more mornings & days like this soon... sharing the water with my favorite animals, learning so much from them, and really starting to build this project. It is a HUGE dream that is finally starting to turn into a reality, and it is so close I can literally taste it!! Yet this is truly only the smallest tip of the iceberg, but that just means that there is so much yet to come and I am HERE FOR IT with my feet planted firmly 💙 Even 1 year ago Corey would be shook to see how far this has already come 🥹 Mahalo nui loa to the many people who have helped me get to this point & thank you to @gsomanoa for a grant to obtain a drone which has already been an absolute game changer for this research.
