Silly that I’m about to hit you with a ‘Motivation Monday’ post but it’s to tell you that you won’t always feel motivated.

Hear me out! Yesterday I completed my third Dri Tri sprint (PR baby 🫢🤗) and what got me to even show up wasn’t motivation. It was my habit of movement that I’ve been building the past 2.5 years (and knowing my friends were counting on me & I’d get to see some of my favorite people🤩).

I told charles when I got home that I had been filing through every excuse I could think of as to why I should just bow out. It started as self doubt, because my teammates are both amazing fit queens and I was heavily comparing myself to if I could even keep up. Then when I was tired of tearing myself down, I moved on to “well the time changed so idk if work will still let me split my shift.” my lead informed me it was fine 😂. Then I had a very active Friday and was feeling sore on Saturday, so I was thinking suddenly my body couldn’t handle it, and I’d just slow my team down and I wouldn’t PR so why bother?!

My alarm went off that morning for work and I knew I would still be going, regardless of my total lack of motivation and enthusiasm about it. Sure enough I got to the gym, saw my people, and I started to get excited (like always..this is why group fitness is my fave) and here we are. What I’ve consistently been doing is what got me in that gym, not motivation.

All this to say: If you’re waiting for the motivation to get started, I implore you to stop waiting and just do it. Even if it’s not perfect, just start building the habit! The consistency will always garner results. You don’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to be motivated all the time, but you need to be consistent.
