May 2024 (pt. 4) a continuation from the previous post—our last evening in the ozarks 1. the coveted ozark eastern coachwhip—flipped by aiden and jacob. jet black and lava pink. pics don’t do this snake justice 2. but first—back it up 20 mins. the day was winding down and it looked like the rainy weather had driven the milks pretty deep underground. the wet conditions hadn’t seemed to have effected the specks at all—but we had only seen the one milk some 9 hours ago that morning. and yet, we prayed and pressed on. as the sun began to set we happened upon this final powerline cut and decided to hit it. a few minutes in and i finally did it—i double flipped lamps. peek the milk in the crevice 3. these guys ended up being western milksnake no. 2 and speckled kingsnake no. 9 for the day 4. never one to be outperformed, aiden flipped arguably the best looking milk of the bunch only a few moments after 5. also never one to remain idle, following the immediate success and excitement that surrounded the long awaited ozark coachwhip aiden went right back to flipping and turned up a second individual further up the cut 6. 12 feet of sheer, enigmatic beauty 7. a hot pink ventral to die for 8. the two coaches, two milks, and speckled king, all pictured together. all turned up within 20 or so mins of eachother as the dusk settles and our trip concludes 9. a very happy aiden reveling in the goodness and glory of a God who so freely decides to pour such generous kindness upon such an undeserving, sinful—and mercifully, redeemed—people such as ourselves 10. bonus copperhead flipped by aiden 11. the poison ivy/thorn combo was no joke this trip 12. braille tag #herping #snakes #animals #ozarks #coachwhip
