In the summer of 1976 a young photographer named Iain Mckell travelled to Weymouth's seaside capturing passers-by. For a then 19-year-old preoccupied with sex and existential angst, this series of photos would act as a visual diary that would later be published into a book entitled Private Reality.⁠ ⁠ A few years later in 1979 Iain Mckell would document the Skinhead scene during the Two Tone movement within the UK.
