In other racing series, we aren’t allowed over the wall during race conditions. They claim it’s for safety etc etc. 🙄 BUT one of my favorite parts of working SRO World Challenge events is going over the wall with the mechanics, during the race. Standing there alongside them in a firesuit and helmet, sweat pouring down your back and into your eyes, there’s nowhere I’d rather be. Fist bump. Wheel guns firing. That energy is unmatched. I wish other series gave us that opportunity. Because photographers that know what they’re doing and know how to read a pitstop AND a pitlane can absolutely work, not be in the way, and come away with unique images from a part of the race where teamwork is the sole focus.
