High mountain climbs always have an ability to give you clarity. The hours and hours of putting one foot in front of the other, patiently making your way up, step by step, breath by breath, the solitude of a lofty goal, with only your body to carry you forward.
Today, on one such climb, as the peaks reached touching distance, a beautiful phenomenon - candy cotton pink snow all around us, with a sky to match. No sun, no cloud, just colour, atmosphere and light.
Sahara sand had been carried over by strong wind currents, and dusted snow and air all around us. A place not less extreme but seemingly so far away, so effortlessly making its presence heard from 3,000km away.
We are all one. For every action, a reaction.
“Salvation will not come from the rushing centres of civilisation - deliverance will come from the lonely places” Fridtjof Nansen
