Black History Month: A Celebration of Black Hair 🤎 I had the pleasure of working with the incredible @jamelia and her daughters for this project celebrating afro hair. Hair plays such a significant role in Black history and tradition for a reason. The development of afro hair and its effects on society over time have had a rich history, but they also have a unique narrative that says volumes about the Black experience and identity. Black hair has a particularly significant past as a symbol of endurance, resistance, and joy. It has been used as a tool of oppression as well as empowerment, and how Black people are treated in our society today is still influenced by how Black people are perceived in our culture.
