I loved Angela Lansbury - just like everybody else. When I was a young actor starting out on Broadway she was so startling warm and kind to me when our paths would cross backstage or elsewhere that I’d turn around to make sure she was talking to me. This is a photo from a reading of All about Eve to benefit the The Actors Fund not too long ago - we got to share the stage with Dame Angela which was thrilling. It was also thrilling to run into her at our local grocery store when we became neighbors a few years later..we’d spend a few minutes catching up and then we’d crash our carts (on purpose) into each other in a very gentle demolition derby in the aisles. If I’m bereft, can’t imagine how her family feels. Our deepest condolences to them. If there is one thing I cherish about my career it’s been the chance to work with, a little bit, and know, a little bit, some extraordinary artists and people. Thank you Angela Lansbury, I’m going to miss you.
