When I was in kindergarten a bunch of my classmates and I were extras in a wonder bread commercial. I remember leaving and thinking the film industry was the most magical thing I had ever experienced but never thinking it was an option for me. It seemed so far away and unattainable. A few years ago my friend sent me a picture from that day that I had never seen. Apparently I insisted on riding on the camera crane and I think it’s the happiest picture of me as a child. It’s amazing what will stick with you even when you are too young to remember. Last month I got to re-live this moment while shooting the Moschino job. It filled me with so much joy to be able to come full circle back to that moment that probably unknowingly started me on my path to wanting to be a DP.
