This photo was taken just after midnight on day 2 of racing in Kona. Call time was at 3:30am so it was a 20+ hour shoot day. This team did 2 of those days back to back with a rest day in between. Shooting an IRONMAN is not easy work. It’s physically and mentally challenging. You’re chasing athletes over 140.6 miles over 3 sports in tough conditions while dealing with technology. You’re thinking about camera settings, lenses, angles, timing, positioning, the light, anticipating moves, communication, locations of athletes...all while telling a race story as a team. This is not for everyone. It takes a special talent and athleticism. I could write a post about each person on the crew. Everyone pulled through when it counted and this film could not happen without everyone’s sacrifice to the greater goal. We live for these moments. To be asked to rise up to a championship level and deliver on it, I can’t thank this group enough.
