Today, August 25th, is know as Founders Day for the @nationalparkservice. Today is the 106th birthday of America’s best idea which was created with the signing of the Organic Act in 1916 by President Woodrow Wilson. As an NPS employee and park ranger, I get to use my passion for the outdoors and leave no trace to uplift the mission statement of the National Park Service. It states that that National Park Service is meant to preserve unimpaired the natural and cultural resources and values of the National Park System for the enjoyment, education, and inspiration of this and future generations. I believe that National Parks are America’s Best Idea because they offer so much to the people who visit them. From massive mountains to cultural history and glorious rocks to magnificent water features. These protected lands offer a place for people to be immersed in nature and history.
