At @globalfashionagenda’s Global Fashion Summit was the first time I couldn’t keep in my emotions on stage. I had seen company after company proposing targets that they hadn’t met yet and self-congratulating on it. Of course, there were some people cutting through the noise and proposing bold new ways of looking at supply chains, business models, circularity, waste management, and others. But the big companies like H&M were there to make it clear that they are not going to take this crisis seriously— they want to half their emissions and double their growth in the same span of time. I am usually very optimistic about our ability to come together and change the world, but when there’s people who don’t seem to even acknowledge the size of the crisis, I had to do my best to ground them. Through that I got really vulnerable. But many people have told me that showing emotions is good as well. Showing how deep this fight is for us. Thank you so much to everyone who has supported youth climate justice activists in this fight that can get really hard at times. Please keep making spaces for youth, and most importantly, please do your best to fight for the planet and her people, like we are ❤️❤️🌎 Thank you @arizona_muse and @lilycole for recording and being front row to support, as well as the warriors in that room like @sophfei, @thatcurlytop, @willowonearth, @aditimayer, @the.ngozi, @bobbykolade, and many others. Learn from them, open space for us, and listen 💚
