We are sad to hear of the passing of Kim Jung Gi, who died two days ago, at the age of 47. “I observe things all the time. I don’t take references while I’m drawing, but I’m always collecting visual resources. I observe them carefully on daily basis, almost habitually. I study images of all sorts and genres.” A master illustrator, whose images seemed to magically appear from a brush or a pen, Kim Jung Gi was a sought after live demo artist and instructor, and drew large crowds at events and conventions, as they looked on in wonder as dynamic, yet highly detailed scenes poured from his hand onto the paper. We send our sympathies to his family, his friends, and his numerous fans on the passing of such an amazing talent.
