‘Nathalie first came to Naples in 1996 with no possessions except for 25 Turkish rugs. But she couldn’t imagine the possibility of living without her books, so for the time being she made scans of their covers and stuck them to her walls, where they remain to this day. After the ceiling of her first home fell in, Nathalie moved to another space, a similarly magnificent, partially destroyed palazzo given the name Purgatorio II, which over the past 20 years has become a hotel and literary club for members of the association Locus Solus. Guests stay on the condition that upon departing they sign and leave a book for Mr Robert Kaplan, the imaginary owner of the house invented by Nathalie. As a result, the palazzo now contains thousands of books signed, dated, and dedicated to him’.
Nathalie de Saint Phalle’s space (and her cats) in the latest issue of @apartamentomagazine with an interview by @gemmajanes, merci Robbie & Omar.
