Between 2018 and 2021 I acted as art director of the Fonderia Artistica Battaglia Design Department, the historic bronze foundry in Milan, Italy. I brought talents from around the world to create artistic projects that showed innovation in bronze production. Today I’m proud to share the last project of my mandate, which, after a long and meticulous production, is finally ready and on display at @randcompanynyc in New York. Katie Stout @ummmsmile closed the program with her residency and production in Milan last year. She was chosen especially for her unique and unexpected use of diverse range of material, layering her own rich sculptural language. Katie’s work evokes simultaneously a sense of dark irony and the joyful celebration of childhood innocence. The new series of bronze works has been developed exclusively for R & Company. I’m happy to end my mandate with the Foundry with such an inspiring, contemporary and fresh project.
