Tomorrow I will be arguing at the Eighth Circuit in defense of health care for trans adolescents. I very much feel the weight of this moment with entire right-wing movements leveraging weaponized misinformation in defense of trans eradication. But what I will carry into court - as I always try to do - is the beauty, resilience and strength of our trans community. They claim that the care that saves us actually kills us - but what they actually mean is that our survival, our joy, our determination kills the facile notion that the state can define and control what we know to be true about ourselves. People fear the endless possibility that we represent. For my incredible clients, for my mentors, for my ancestors, it is an absolute honor to be a trans person existing in my power in these spaces and I will do right by all you have taught me and all you deserve.
