1970s Peter Danko Vintage Bentwood Chairs Reupholstered in Gray Bouclé, a Pair A sculpturally stunning pair of bent plywood chairs. Each chair is crafted like a puzzle- intricate yet simple, poised and refined One piece of golden blonde plywood at a time- swooping and falling into the other, from top to bottom, moving in a dramatic yet delicate dance as they each, one by one, perfectly frame the clamshell seat The seat, designed in the shadow of a clamshell- marvelously showcases a curved back and a curved tongue-like seat The previous owners of these chairs claim the designer to be Peter Danko for Thonet. Some years ago, when the couple had the set reupholstered to fit their beach home, the hired upholsterer had removed and lost the tags sometime in the process. The previous upholstery was blue and beachy. We just recently reupholstered again, in a gray bouclé. These chairs would be perfect for a den, a library, an office or desk, as two corner accent chairs, at a two person dinner table, as captains chairs at a longer table or surrounding a coffee table. Dated 1977 Please see our shop to view the matching chair and ottoman set, also Peter Danko and gray bouclé. 9/10 Condition. Strong & sturdy frames, arms, seats, backs. No wear in their function. All the wood is sound as well, perfectly shaped- no breaks or cracks. Minor vintage wear- scratches at the base of the of the feet. Newly reupholstered.
