Blaze orange is the new black...during hunting season at least 🧔 November in Vermont means one thing: time to hit the woods! Hunting season is in full force, and many communities depend on this activity for food and wildlife population control. To help keep you safe, we’ve partnered with our favorite pups @margot.the.cockerspaniel and her little brother Henri to remind you to wear blaze orange! āļø Did you know...unless land in Vermont is posted with ā€œno huntingā€ signs, anyone with the proper license can hunt there. Vermont law allows for public land access for hunting, fishing, and other wildlife-based recreation. Landowner permission isn’t required - but highly encouraged! Owners have the right to ask hunters to show their licenses and leave the property at any time. To be extremely blunt, Vermont’s open land policy means there’s a risk of encountering a hunter almost anywhere in the woods. Hunters try their hardest to blend into the forest and stay silent while they wait for an animal to make noise...so you most likely won’t see them. But they’ll HEAR YOU, and if they can’t SEE YOU too, you might get mistaken for dinner. šŸ We’re urging everyone who spends time in the woods to WEAR BLAZE ORANGE until hunting season is over in December. It might seem tacky or totally ā€œnot in styleā€ but it could literally be the difference between life and death. This includes your pets and small children who could wander away from you! DON’T ENDANGER YOURSELF BY BEING TOO COOL FOR ORANGE!!! 🧔 Stay safe out there and share the forest responsibly, friends!! 🧔 #vermontforreal #vermont #vermontbyvermonters #vermontshots #vermontlife #vermonting #igvermont #ilovermont #travelvermont #huntingseason #deerhunting #hikevermont #hikingsafety #wearorange #dogsofinstagram
