I thought MTV was the coolest thing on the planet when I was a kid and the idea of working there one day felt like trying to be an astronaut when I was growing up in Oklahoma. I finally got a job working on The Real World in Hawaii and it was everything I hoped. I was paid to follow beautiful maniacs all over Oahu and India and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. So much more fun than trying to document animals, which I also thought would be a passion. Animals don’t fight when they drink. You have to wait forever for stuff to happen. I also got to work on some of the most iconic music videos of the day and watch artists in their prime like Sisqo and Britney Spears and Ricky Martin explode with videos like Lucky and She Bangs and Thong Song. So many fun adventures. I just opened another Ramsey Art gallery in Del Mar this weekend and it gave me an even bigger high. I would have set the whole thing on fire if I wasn’t sober and my smile today just reminds me how sweet sobriety is. So much more space in my life for joy and adventure. My favorite expression of the attitude I love is Punk rock Sober. Thanks @joshbrolin It gives me all the feels I wanted when I was in Oklahoma thinking about how exciting it would be to work at MTV some day. I get a life filled with art and passion and camaraderie now. What a terrific time to be alive. Come check out my new pad at one of the most kick Ass spots in California.
