🪵Winter is for the Birds⁠ ⁠ That about sums up our feeling of winter some days - but not all! It is great to see our feathered friends out enjoying the winter here. Not all head south for warmer climates! Lend a hand to your feathered friends this season. Here are a few helpful tips:⁠ ⁠ 🏘️Give a feathered friend some shelter. Growing evergreen trees and shrubs in your garden help birds find shelter from the wind, rain, and snow. ⁠ ⁠ 🪵If you have an older tree that you’re going to cut down, consider leaving part of the trunk as a wildlife tree. Birds such as woodpeckers and chickadees seek out these old trees, nesting in holes and hiding in the gaps under the thick bark.⁠ ⁠ 🪶Birds need warm, fluffy feathers to stay warm. If you’re in a cold area, a heated bath gives birds the ability to drink and to clean off their feathers. ⁠ ⁠ These small helpful changes may just entice them to fly into your garden and space a little more often, which really is a win, win for everyone!⁠ ⁠ 📸 A beautiful red-headed bird has landed on an older stump, using it as a perch to look at the winter wonderland.
