Thanks so much to everyone who’s taken the time to listen to my album, The View of Earth From Mars. This project isn’t quite like anything I’ve done before, and it was born out of a strange and difficult period of my life. I wrote a story about the first person to go Mars as a way of deciphering my own emotional journey after graduating college and starting work at NASA. I think my experience was something a lot of us have felt at one point or another — trying to figure out how to be happy and fulfilled once you no longer have a specific path pointing you in the right direction. I’m lucky that I work in space exploration, because it forced me to confront these feelings in really superlative ways, all at once, with the biggest and emptiest backdrop imaginable. This album is my take from that vantage point, while figuring it out in real-time myself. I’m hoping that my view from Mars can lend inspiration to your own views of Earth. Huge shoutout to the supremely talented @nicky_spaghetti for directing, and for being an incredible partner in the pursuit of figuring things out.
