It was the perfect farewell to summer ☀️ The evening sky, a swirl of gentle pinks and blues, was the backdrop to Coleman coaxing Lucky out into the ocean to skip over waves (that is before one got a little too big, completely submerged him, and sent him back to the shore.) The breeze blew through my hair and pushed me toward the water where I joined Coleman, and wrapped my arms around him, just as I have so many times on so many beaches, before. Then we waded through the water and back to the sand where @katiengallardo was rocking her sweet new baby, and @stevenjgallardo was tossing the frisbee to their dog Winston. Lucky ran to us, shook his little body, and sent a spray of salt water into the air before darting back toward the other dogs on the beach. As the scene unfolded around me I knew it would soon become a memory—one that would likely fade in time. And isn’t that just such a shame? The fleetingness of life and its beautiful moments. So here I am, writing it down. Trying to cling to it for just a little longer. Reveling in the meaningful details of an ordinary life. 📸: the talented @katiegallardophoto
