May 2024 (pt. 5) emma, aiden and i embark on a 3 week long trip through the midwest—visiting new states in search of new snakes. this is height of herping. this is what it’s all about 1. black king snake flipped under a board in tennessee at a site aiden found all by himself (day 2 of the trip) 2. corn snake flipped under tin in central georgia on day 1 3. emma with a barred owl we found in kentucky 4. a rather unusually brown colored ringneck from kentucky 5. a pair of southern copperheads flipped in kentcky 6. prairie kingsnake flipped under a board in kentucky. all in all pretty anticlimactic—but calligaster at last 7.
