Recently completed leaded glass for @shopredone 1940’s Spartanette trailer. Working with stained glass provides a nice balance to the density and opacity of wood. In reading a book about technique I came across a passage that described the medium of stained glass as having the unique quality of allowing light to pass through it. I often explore the sun and heart motif in my work. They are timeless elements, entering our lives in ways we see and ways we feel. Much of our existence is defined by the rising and setting of the sun as well as the whims of our heart. There was something earnest about shaping a heart out of a material which requires light to pass through in order to be fully appreciated, fully experienced. Maybe someone of a more delicate nature can extract the metaphor in there. For now, the process of joining disparate shards of glass and finding a transparent and harmonious balance is enough to keep me occupied. Thanks to @grant.shumate.studio for folding me into this special little trailer.
