This video tours Tyler Mitchell’s (@tylersphotos) commission for Frieze Masters (@friezeofficial) this year, which is open through tomorrow, October 16! Photographs, works on fabric and mirror, and a new installation feature in the special project, which is presented by Frieze with additional support from Gagosian. These images combine references to the kinds of pastoral settings familiar from Impressionist and Rococo painting, the history of photographic images of Black people—particularly in the American South—and fashion photography.
