From the time the girls were little, Anne-Marie always gravitated to the kitchen, where she often helped her grandfather cook, and Jacqueline was always in the dining room, entertaining the guests. So it was only natural when they opened their own place that Anne-Marie would be back of house and Jacqueline would be front of house. As such, Anne-Marie generally does not take part in wine tasting or buying. That is Jacqueline’s domain. But one recent afternoon, Anne-Marie crashed the wine tasting party. Here she is below, describing what happened: “Recently I was lucky enough to sit in on a wine tasting at Little Lion. I’m usually rushing out the door to go pick up a kid, or to run an errand, or to go clean my house before my kids get home from school. But for some reason, on this day, Dionysus (the Greek god of alcohol) must’ve been urging me to stay. I rarely drink champagne. For one thing, it gives me a headache, and for another, I don’t seem to have many special occasions lately to really enjoy it. But I decided to get out of my comfort zone and tried it and I had my own little special occasion right there. I really encourage you to treat yourself to this champagne. You can pick one up to go with your Friday night dinner and we’re also going to feature it at this week’s Supper Club. Or–-and this is my personal favorite–-pour yourself a glass and walk around this beautiful city of ours. (Please send me a picture if you do.) Oh, and the best part is that this is a good champagne that won’t give you a headache.” Speaking of the Supper Club, we had a cancellation, so there is actually one table left.
