THANK YOU, HAPPY NEW YEAR!, RED LIGHT, 2023 SUNRISE & NEW PODCAST EPISODE OUT MONDAY •
_
Thank you all for being such a key part of the Huberman Lab community. Your comments and questions both to me and to each other, often shape the HLP by stimulating deeper discussion about the scientific literature and the tools for mental health, physical health, and performance.

Here I talk a bit about the use of inexpensive red lights (in the late evening/at night) for reducing cortisol levels and improving sleep. The data on red light at night are quite convincing. Of course the lights are turned off when it’s time to go to sleep. The red light panels that you sometimes see advertised are more for directed use/tissue stimulation. That’s an interesting topic unto itself but that’s not what I’m referring to here.

And whether or not you go to bed early tonight, stay up late, or stay up all night, try and get some sunshine in your eyes early in the day tomorrow and every day. It is known to improve focus, alertness, mood, and improve sleep. Don’t ever stare at any light, sunlight or otherwise that it’s painful to look at.

New episode of the Huberman Lab podcast out this coming Monday and it’s a guest episode. I can’t reveal who it is yet but it’s a deep discussion about meditation, consciousness, free will and more, all couched within a lot of neuroscience and actionable tools.

Meanwhile, please put your questions in the comments section below this post and as always thank you for your interest in science!
