These beautiful hand-sewn tracksuits have all been made in local Ukrainian factories, as part of a new project to help people who have been forced to leave their homes in Ukraine. The project is being run by an organisation called Friends Hands (@frg_kramatorsk) who have been supporting families and people with disabilities in frontline areas of Ukraine since 2015. Most recently, Friends Hands has been providing aid for people affected by the invasion; ensuring that people who have been displaced internally within Ukraine have essential items and the support they need in temporary accommodation, shelters or transit shelters. Through their factory project, they are helping people who have been internally displaced into jobs sewing the tracksuits, helping to keep local manufacturers in business and increasing funds for the city Government to help locally displaced people. The tracksuits they make are then sent to transit centres and temporary shelters to give to those who had to leave their homes without their belongings. Friends Hands understands the issues faced by people who have had to leave their homes and move elsewhere in their country. All of the Friends Hands team are themselves internally displaced, and they currently live in and coordinate their amazing work from a collective centre hostel. Despite facing challenges themselves, they are determined to keep helping others get through this time.
