We had an epic night at the Sports Emmy’s. Great to share the experience with the talented @juliapolloreno and legend Kyle Brown and his family. We didn’t walk away with statue but we left with a great sense of pride for what we accomplished to get here. So good to take a moment and celebrate the hard work and dedication we have put in with our extended production team over the last 4 years. It was awesome to see Kyle again. 2years ago, the 7X IRONMAN finisher crossed the finish line at the 70.3 Worlds with ALS. Now he cannot to speak or walk but he showed up with a smile. What an incredible guy who is still reminding us all that we can choose to come alive when faced with tragedy. Few take aways from the night. I remembered how to tie a tie. One of the highlights was seeing one of my sports journalism heroes Bryant Gumbel from HBO Real Sports receive a lifetime achievement award. The industry is getting more diverse in the people leading productions but the NFL, World Cup, Olympics and ESPN dominate. Inspiring stories still resonate with this audience Endurance sports has a way to go to complete with the level of production represented We belong in the room and we’ll be back. Big thank you to my wife @sarahaswiss the Godwin girls @lily.godwin_ @lexig.dancer Hartley for understanding when I’m on the road. Could not do this without your love and support. Thanks to the @ironmantri team and athletes for the passion you put into the sport. And thank you to our production team Ohana of staff and contractors that always bring their best and continue to push the boundaries on event coverage and storytelling. Grateful to be on this journey with Julia, Kevin and so many great friends and co-workers. It really does matter who you choose to spend time with.
