I’m directing the season finale of The Sex Lives Of College Girls! I’m very thankful and very excited! But this post isn’t about that — it’s a lil love letter to an amazing writer, Beth Appel, who I get to share this script with. Beth and I met 15 years ago doing improv in NY. She was funnier than me, and I wanted her to think I was good. I was like, fine. But she invited me to perform with her, and back then, that was huge for my sorta non-existent confidence. One of my absolute favorite moments in making this TV show has been calling Beth before Season 1 and kind of demanding that she join this staff and write this show with us. One of the best calls I’ve ever made. Thank you Beth for being so funny and smart and hardworking and kind — in 2008 in NYC dive bars and basements, and in 2022 on the Warner Brothers lot. ❤️
