Can’t stop smiling looking back on the most incredible week in Ghana- working on this year’s education project, kicking off year two of sanitary pad distribution, holding “Girl Talk” sessions, and spending time with the wonderful community in Old Odonase. We received a $33,700 grant from the Maldari Family Charitable Foundation to build six teacher bungalows with electricity, running water, and plumbing. We celebrated the (although not fully complete yet) bungalows with a ribbon-cutting ceremony alongside local leaders, educators, and community members. We held “Girl Talk” workshops to discuss menstruation and thanks to the generosity of friends and family, launched year two of sanitary pad distribution allowing us to continue providing every woman with products and growing the Every Woman Project. The Old Odonase school also received iPads to support lesson planning, generously donated by a NYC private school. Huge shoutout to Nana Aggrey-Fynn, who has worked tirelessly over the past few months, to build beautiful bungalows for the teachers. Your selflessness and dedication to the village is inspiring. Headmaster Emmanuel- you are a dedicated and compassionate leader. Your commitment and kind hearted nature makes a meaningful impact. So proud of Hannah Baffoe for building and fully owning the Every Woman Project in Ghana including leading “Girl Talk” workshops every other month- traveling 12 hours round trip in a single day to make it happen. A big focus of our work is on women so the boys were very happy to spend time with my dad while we gathered with the girls. Having my sister, Isabel, on the trip made it extra special. So proud of the initiative she took to help a bright student get the medication and glasses she needed at an eye clinic over an hour away so that she can continue to thrive in school.
