Jupiter’s complex colors 🎨
The Juno spacecraft did its 43rd close flyby of the gas giant on July 5, giving us another view of the planet’s cloud tops. Both images were processed by citizen scientist Björn Jónsson using raw data. The image to the left shows the approximate colors the human eye can see.
The second image was processed to sharpen small-scale features. It also reveals some intriguing aspects of Jupiter’s atmosphere, including color variation that results from different chemical compositions.
