I have been told by my good friend @spencerobrien that eagle feathers are a powerful symbol, from what I understand, of strength and respect. She also said that it is supposed to be given to another, and if found by non-indigenous folks, should be left where it is. Last summer, Spencer and I were at Fairy Creek Blockade together and it was a wild and powerful experience. One night, as we were setting up camp at 4 am after a scary mission, looking between cedars and hemlocks, trying to find the mossiest spot to roll out our sleeping bags, we found a beautiful white Bald Eagle feather. That’s when she told me about this story and right then and there, she decided to gift it to me. Thank you for your leadership and teachings Spencer. we all have so much to learn here still as settlers and must not forget that. ❤️ I left this feather today, and thankful for the reminder of how important friendships are and about the beauty of these sacred ancestral lands and peoples.
