From our dear friends @artcenterarcata: “Stuff break in the quake? Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. As a philosophy, it treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise. Malia uses the spirit of kintsugi to repair her many broken vessels. Materials need: Broken ceramics Broken pieces of ceramics Jacquard #PearlEx Pigment Powder* Glue** Something to mix on Stir stick 1. Figure out the order of the repair. 2. Mix the gold pigment and glue together 3. Apply the glue to the first piece 4. Insert piece, use masking tape to hold piece in place if needed 5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until all the piece are in place 6. Let dry and enjoy! *Pearlex comes in many shades of gold or use an extra fun color for the repair. **Use the right kind of glue for the repair. Malia used a food safe glue for her cup. Other glues would be great for non food items. mug by @hazesblazes” #jacquardpearlex #pearlexpigments #kintsugi #visiblemending #pearlexpigment #fix #mend #brokenceramics #jacquardproducts #gold #fixed #earthquake #repair #howtovideo #demo #mug #ceramics #artcenter #independentartstore #locallyowned #womanrun #womanownedbusiness #artsupplies #shoplocal #choosehumboldt #artistsworkhere #fortheartistineveryone
