We had just got back to the Airbnb around midnight from a hike and @gerardkarlphoto texts us saying there’s aurora sightings in Canmore. Went outside, but couldn’t really tell cause the streetlights. I think we were pretty ready for bed but decided to atleast drive a bit north to see if we could see anything. Around 1:00am we get to Lake Minnewanka and sure enough we could see some glow across the lake. Was pretty surreal seeing the northern lights in person for the first time. They were more dynamic than I realized, and although the camera definitely shows off the colours more, it was amazing watching those vertical lines and the glow dance across the sky. I love photography for moments like this where you push yourself just a little bit more outside your comfort zone to see things you normally wouldn’t. Watching the screen flash on the camera after a 4 second exposure and seeing an insane green glow is definitely a feeling of excitement and awe 🙏🏻 🌌
