Shot in Andaman Islands (the Bay of Bengal, between India and Myanmar - formerly Burma) by @pranoysarkar and production cast by Diet Paratha (@achhib / @diet_paratha) Although not of Indian heritage himself (Greek/European), LA based designer Jimmy Alexander, dutifully pays homage to the land the garments are produced on by enlisting an entirely South Asian team to bring the first campaign to life. The aesthetic is playful, poetic, and hyper-real employing classic shapes with exaggerated features and an overall focus on the wearers ability to flow within the garment. Each expression is created with the intention to earn a lifelong relationship that goes beyond that of subject-object. All bespoke fabrics are 100% organic; as are the dyes. Silk thread, metal and glass are the materials for embroidery. Linings are pure silk; buttons, mother of pearl. All the prints are created first by hand before engineered printing and tailoring. The shapes of the garments are inspired by menswear tailoring, yet deeply embrace feminine notions, and as such, are made to work across body sizes, genders, and wearability.
