Drawing inspiration from New York herself, NYON’s flagship was designed in collaboration with @ebolognino and her incredibly talented team at Elizabeth Bolognino Interiors. Everything in the store is fully custom, as the space was completely gutted and re-built from scratch over the past six weeks, an admittedly expedited timeline only made possible by Liz’s brother, Tom at @hudsondevgroup. Here’s Elizabeth take on how EBI approached this project: “A New York City brand should be two things — familiar and trendsetting. When it came to designing the store, we thought a lot about how to find balance between classic and new. While we wanted it to feel familiar for those who know the nooks and crannies of the city, we also didn’t want to do something that had been done before.” The overall design mirrors the aesthetic of a classic downtown NYC artist’s loft... think tin ceilings, brick walls, and wood floors. It’s light and airy and meant to feel like somewhere you probably wouldn’t mind hanging out for a while. From there, subtle nods to our city are thoughtfully sprinkled throughout the interior design: hunter green banquettes reminiscent of park benches in Central Park; a tile mosaic whose border borrows inspiration from the iconic Greek coffee cup design; and a marble cash-wrap whose color palette of rich browns and greens represents how copper patinas, as experienced by Lady Liberty over the past 100+ years. Here’s EB again: “The end result is a space inspired by New York City itself, but with unexpected colors and materials. To achieve this, we’ve balanced cool and warm tones throughout the space. The color palette is inspired by the patina of older buildings in the city... the shine it gets when the sun starts to go down. No matter where you are in that moment, you’re surrounded by golden light.” As the saying goes, it’s all in the details. And there are many more yet to be revealed.
