Waiting ‘til the cows to come home I know the freelance hustle isn’t for the faint of heart and requires grit, but waiting patiently for things to take off while I work tirelessly behind the scenes, is hard. I’ve been responsible for my own income since I was 17. I never imaged as an adult I would be back to living paycheck to paycheck which is extremely uncomfortable for me. At times, I consider going back to the 9-5. Yes, the work that breaks my spirit, controls my schedule, leaves me unchallenged, unfulfilled but puts money in my pocket while creating wealth for someone else. Then I remember the day I envisioned working on an editorial, and the day that became a reality. And the day before that when I met Rachel Zoe, the woman who made me realize styling could even be a profession, who told me, in a sea of stylists, that talent will stand out and speak for itself and set you apart. And I remember the incredible people I have met in the short time I’ve been styling and the signs that remind me with certainty, this is what I’m meant to do. And I smile while thinking about how on this journey I’m always learning about my craft and myself. How I’m pushing the boundaries and showing my boys and more importantly myself that I am capable of doing great things, big things, challenging things and worthy of success. That in fact I am already wildly successful simply for showing up and not giving up. There’s no other way I’d rather make a living than creating and sharing my art. And so I push through the stress and worry and relinquish my faith to the universe and keep on, knowing that one day, I’ll be able to look back and say, I did it! Who’s with me?
