Welp that's a wrap on The Color Purple @themuny. I can't tell you what an absolute joy it's been to work alongside such gifted artists and beautiful souls. In this production I had my first opportunity to work with a Black female director. Which is CRAZY because I've been in the business for over 20 years. @batmanbrown you are a creative Goddess and I'm beyond excited for ALL of the theater world to know it....because they will. I would run to work with you and @breonarzell again. @anastaciamccofficial you are dream to play opposite of. You are pure light on and off the stage💜 Shug Avery, I love you. I've been asked so many times over the years what my dream role would be and I would give the half-pretentious-half-insecure answer of "They haven't written it yet". However after getting to live in your skin for these past weeks, girl, you are it. I would play you anywhere and everywhere if I had the chance . This production gave me a vehicle to celebrate being black, a woman, an artist and a child of God. It's been a MUCH NEEDED reminder that I love to perform and God has created me to do it. It's also been a humble reminder that when it doesn't seem like He's working, He is. All you have to do is - as Shug sings -"Open up your eyes look what God has done"....Amen.
