Today, this girl from Luton was invited to the Palace to meet the new King and Queen ๐Ÿ‘‘. And yes, I did behave ๐Ÿ‘ผ๐Ÿผ No pictures of them were allowed so here are a few other snaps taken at a reception to celebrate the British South Asian diaspora, at Holyrood Palace, Edinburgh (where the soldiers wore kilts and held bagpipes- obvs ๐Ÿ’‚โ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿฐ) I was exhausted and jet lagged from my trip to the US โœˆ๏ธ and almost didnโ€™t make it but found the strength when I remembered how much it would have meant to my late grandparents to know that the opportunities they created for us have led us to spaces they could only have dreamt ๐Ÿ’ญ of entering when they moved to England in the 50โ€™s from India, after becoming refugees of partition ๐ŸŒ‹ From our brief chinwag, King Charles seemed cognisant of the challenges facing the arts sector in the UK right now and was excited to hear about The Offbeat Sari๐Ÿฅปexhibition coming up at the Design Museum. (Will he visit? Maybe!) We also set some objectives and in a few months he will hopefully pass his probation! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Lovely to see dear friends Imtiaz Dharker and Ayesha Dharker, shown here, along with a smattering of soldiers in uniform who apparently wished to be photographed with us! In the last picture are some tourists whom we seemed to entertain by entering the iron gates in a line ๐Ÿ‘ฏโ€โ™‚๏ธ. When I told the cabbie where I was going he said (in a thick Glaswegian accent) no one enters the gates, Iโ€™ll have you know, no one! ๐Ÿ’ฏ๐Ÿ’Ž ๐Ÿ‘— by @ganni #royalvisit #holyroodpalace #kingcharles #designblog #curator #writer #lutongirl
