Unfortunately, nothing remains of the 30-metre-high Colossus of Rhodes, which collapsed in a powerful earthquake 66 years after its construction. The Knights of the Order of St. John, returning from the Crusades in Jerusalem, settled on the island between 1309 and 1523 and strengthened the structures, turning the city into a stronghold. A walk through the narrow, still intact alleys of the old town allows you to enjoy the beauty of the place and fully immerse yourself in the medieval atmosphere that blends in with the architecture built under Turkish and Italian rule.
