Proud to stand onstage with @marenmorris for this moment. I’ve read a lot of comments such as “people are entitled to their opinions” in defense of Ms. Aldean. But when you’re an influencer and your opinion intentionally spreads confusion and misinformation to millions there has to be some accountability. I’m including some FACTS from the @trevorproject on the painful toll all of these “opinions” are taking on such a vulnerable community. One of my best friends from college took their life after years of struggle in this cruel climate. So I respectfully ask that you leave any comments of “medical” or “statistical” information you’ve gleamed from the internet that are NOT supportive of my friend OFF of my feed. TALK to someone from the trans community. Sit at the table and ask THEM how they feel about Ms. Aldean’s comments and get back to me.
