A friend asked me how writing was going recently. I thought about it for a moment and answered, “Well, it was really really really bad and frustrating and confusing. And then it was good.” Fight through your “first draft.” Fight through the beginning stages where you haven’t quite found your footing yet. The days where you work from sun up to sun down and have nothing to show for it except a mess of lyrics that don’t make sense.
