This year of exploring ice caves is coming to close. With warming temperatures the level of danger increases exponentially every day. Looking back on the year, I am overwhelmed with my success of capturing these magical formations. At the beginning of winter I stumbled upon my first ice cave as I was hiking 35km deep in the back country. I became obsessed. Knowing these caves have a finite time left on earth I felt it was my obligation to capture them in my photos. Standing in these ice caves, my soul would open up into what I could only describe as an overwhelming feeling of emotions and connection to an ancient past. I am convinced these ice caves are a lot more than just a cool location. These ice caves somehow have a very strong spiritual connection to the earth and possibly time. These glaciers have seen our human race grow. As they melt, they release earth and water that has been trapped for thousands of years. Next year I will continue my exploration of these ancient being.
