When they met at the hospital, we were sure to keep baby in the bassinet for a while instead of me holding him when our toddler walked in. We had them exchange a little gift & then I spent some 1:1 time with our toddler. Our toddler is the best little helper & honestly loves being included in the smallest tasks for the baby. He always grabs the diapers and wipes for us, loves bath time with his baby brother and he is he only one who is allowed to push the stroller. 🤪🥰 We also make a point to NEVER BLAME THE BABY. ‘I can’t play with you because I’m feeding the baby.’ Or, ‘We can’t go to the park because the baby is sleeping.’ You can still say no, but reframe the sentence to not put blame on the babe. 🫶🏼 Setting up a positive foundation for their relationship was so important to us.
