A very quick insight into the “behind the scenes” of a stoma bag! Not many people will have seen a stoma bag before, let alone what a stoma is, but it’s so important that if we can, we share, not for ourselves, but for others who are like we were prior to surgery, lost, scared, alone and unsure on what stoma life even meant! Like I said this is a very sneak peak, but a bag change consists of ✔️ taking the old bag off ✔️ cleaning the skin around the stoma ✔️ ensuring the area is dry (hence the fanning with the bag) ✔️ adding any extra preventatives you may need (I use a powder to help any sore bits of skin ✔️ applying your new bag ✔️ pressing around the bag to ensure it has stuck all the way round the edge and round the stoma Once all of the above steps are complete, our poo should securely be collected in our bag that allows us to carry on living our daily life ❤️ super grateful for my stoma bag & life #ileostomy #ileostomybag #ileostomylife #ileostomyawareness #stomaaware #stoma #toptips #stomatips #freeda #womenshealth #healthtips
