Last week, we were overwhelmed with sadness to learn that Karen Matthews had passed away, leaving behind her two daughters, Kenya and Reyna, her dog LuLu, and a loving community of family and friends in the Bay Area and beyond. We are raising money for Karen's daughters to help with the inevitable expenses that arise when a loved one is lost unexpectedly. Karen provided a special kind of friendship and hospitality to guests and fellow staff at Chez Panisse for 26 years. She had the smoothest ability to make anyone feel at home and a quick-witted, hilarious response to just about anything ready on the tip of her tongue.
